1. Pretend that you are talking to a blind man and have to describe for him what "red" is. You should use narrative and descriptive writing techniques, and try to appeal to his other senses!

I can never give you the exact description of any color you havent ever seen. The reason is because perception is a way of knowing things. And without your sight it makes it nearly impossible for me to explain an exact description of the color red. But i can still use the other ways of knowing to try to help you estimate how red actually looks like. Let me try to explain to you through your emotions. Red is a color that can usually represesnt heat. Have you ever become so agrivated and feel the heat from your cheeks? When this happens most people's face turn red. If that doesn't help have you let me explain to you through reason. Have you ever touched a hot stove and burned yourself. That quick intense pain could help you put together how Red looks like. I know you probebly feel lost right now but apealing to the other ways of knowing is the best way i could help you understand how red looks like.

2. How does competition function in our society? To what extent is it healthy/unhealthy? Offer some real world examples taken from your life, community, culture, state, nation, or world.

Competition
3. How have you taken something that you have learned in the classroom and integrated it into your nonacademic life?
4. If you could go back in time and be someone in history, who would you choose to be? Why?
5. If you had the responsibility to decide where $1 million should be spent to improve conditions somewhere in the world, what project(s) would you choose? Why?

how can a can a country help another country when that country ant even help itself. i would choose the money to help the United States more specifically California.

6. How have you tried to effect change in relation to an issue of personal, local, or national significance?

nope i never try to change anything i believe in i must be proven wrong.
7. If you could introduce one new idea or material thing to a primitive culture, what would it be?

if i could introduce a new material to a primitive culture i would introduce steal. If i were to introduce steal i would have to introduce iron too so it would be a daily double. That way the culture could advance in industry. Once it advanced in industry i could grow richer. then withe those riches could be used to expand a society such as in education.
8. If you were to describe yourself using a quotation, what would that quotation be? After you have chosen a quote, then write a bit about how it relates to you and reveals what kind of person you are.

A quote that would describe me is "go big or go home". This quote would describe me because when i'm doing something i want to do i always try my best. If you don't try your best whats the point of trying?
9. Given the authority to establish a holiday, what would you choose to commemorate? Why? What would the celebration look like?

If i could make a holiday i would make Students Day. Parents dont and cant realize times have changed, their children are learning more complex things parents would have never learned at their own ages which is why we need to commemorate students of their hard work. Every year on the last day of school is so boring people tend to ditch. On the last day of school each school would have their own party to commemorate the students for their hard work. During school people would be out in the quad were there would be multiple events and activities taking place then at night the last day of school dance.
10. What is the best advice you've ever received? Explain

The best advice that has ever been giving to me is "go big or go home." Me and my friends made this pack in middle school and we told each other this quote when we used to do crazy things on our bikes and skatebords. This period of my life was important for me becuase it were i changed from an innocent little boy to an independent teen.
11. Ask and answer the one important question that a university won't ask you, but you wish they would.
12. Your life is a movie. Describe the first 15 minutes.

The minute would show me being born. Then about two minutes of me playing soccer at Otay Elementary School at recess  in elementary. Another minute showing when  joined my fist soccer club team. Then the next 15 minutes would show my life in middle school and how much I changed during that period of my life.
13. Write a letter to your future college roommate introducing yourself and your background.

Dear Roommate,
Since we will be living with each other soon I wanted to write you this letter to tell you a little about myself that way you can know a little about me when we meet. I’ll try to keep it short so I don’t bored your mind out. I was born in San Diego on February 16 1995 and have lived here my whole life. For a short time I lived in Tijuana but that’s irrelevant to the matter. I am Mexican but Spanish isn’t my primary language. I started school in kinder and stayed at Otay elementary school until I promoted to 7th grade. In 7th and 8th I went to Castle Park Middle then I went to Castle Park High were I joined the International Baccalaureate program. I also joined cross country, track and field, and soccer in school and in club. I also like video games I hope you do to.
Sincerely Cesar Felipe Lopez
Ps. Don’t ask how I got you mailing address(;
14. Please describe your reactions/ideas to the following quote: "He does not possess wealth, it possesses him."

The quote “He does not possess wealth but it possesses him” is true. People do change after they gain wealth even if it’s the slightest details. Yes some people may not change but only a small percentage wouldn’t.
After gaining wealth people change in different ways, some more noticeable than others. When people say wealth changes people they tend do think it is the personality that is changed and sometimes this is true. My mom always told me how my tia, who once struggled for money, was always saving money anyway she could but one day she got lucky and won the lottery. After she went to college she became rich and once this happened, her personality changed completely. She became very stuck up and once she starts spending she spends. This is my argument of why the quote is true.
Though people’s personality sometimes changes it is not always the case. Sometimes people are possessed by wealth in the slightest ways such as eating habits or how they dressed. Suppose you are someone who works everyday barely making enough money to eat but one day you find a job that pays so well you could eat at a restaurant every day. Would you not prefer to eat at the restaurant then barely have anything to eat? Same thing with clothing, if you were working everyday barely making enough to survive; you probably would have to use old raggedy cloths. But then you find a job that pays well would you not got out and buy yourself new cloths? The money would possess you to change your life style.
From the three examples you can see money does change people even in the slightest way. Some people may be possessed more than others but everyone does change. This is what I believe of the quote “He does not possess wealth but it possesses him”
15. What is the most valuable contribution you could make to a college campus? Explain.

If you have already read my resume you can see I am an excellent student. Yes I admit balancing my academics and my extracurricular activities was difficult but in the back off my head something always kept telling me “this is for (enter college here).”  As you can see my grades and GPA can be considered as superior to others who do as much curricular activities as me. With that info you can infer not only am I a good student but one who can handle huge amounts of pressure and am ready for anything college has to throw at me. If it’s managing a club or managing a fundraiser I could help.
As a student at (enter college here) I would want to contribute to your school in almost anyway. I could help create/support clubs that relate to my hobbies such as a soccer club or a cross country club. Even a video game club would fit under my credentials.I could also help with fundraisers if it helped the school, planning and organizing is my specialty. As you can see I could help contribute to the in many ways even if its out of my range i'm sure I could handle it.
16. Explain a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dillema you have faced and its impact on you.

My Junior (and Senior) year I enlister in International Baccalaureate (IB), I also was in cross country, club soccer, and track and field. At first it was very difficult to organize school and extracurricular activities it soon became even more difficult. I loved doing sports pushing the limit to my muscles is just a great feeling, but IB and school were important too. I had to find a way to organize them both but how?
I remember the first month of IB I wanted to quit; I felt I didn’t need it and fond it more of a hassle then helpful (I still kind of do (; ). With the help from my friends I kept pushing through the nights of completing HW late at night. My body slowly adjusted to the small hours of sleep but they would soon come back to haunt me. I remember the week before fall and winter break I was so tired every day I had to take showers in the morning and the night to keep myself awake. Not even on weekends I was able to rest, as I would have to wake up early on Saturdays to play soccer.
The help from my parents didn’t help either. Being the eldest boy in my family anything that included working was my job. On Sundays I always had to mow the lawn, pull out weeds. I regular had to water the plants and had to take out the trash. My junior year my dad started renting our house in Tijuana so we regularly went to pick things up on the most randomized days. I remember one day I was so tired from cross country and soccer practice I told him if I could stay home, but he insisted I help him saying he would need my help. I reluctantly agreed.
Throughout both years I struggled balancing both sports and school and each year I felt like quitting both but as the two years passed bye I kept pushing. Now whenever I look back to high school I can be proud of myself because I did it, I did something only a few would dare to do, and I made it out alive and stronger then ever!

17. Discuss some issue of personal, local, national, or international concern and its importance to you.

Recently there were specific events that happened this past year at Castle Park High School. I feel as if the media has just attacked our school in each of the cases. Each article I read only discriminates CPHS; none complement CPHS’ recent achievements. It seems all the trouble started after Mr. Ochoa (our formal principle) was accused of making illegal grade changes to students and taking funds out of clubs without the districts permission. The media seemed to take a liking to Castle Park and they soon returned after a few football players were part of a hazing incident. The media still didn’t have enough and came back after a biology teacher was caught with meth.
At the end of my sophomore year at CPHS it seemed that Mr. Ochoa was being accused of doing illegal grade changes and illegally stealing money from clubs and sports. Turned out these accusations were true but the way the media described the events were so foul the media made Mr. Ochoa as a tyrant. Yes Mr. Ochoa did grade changes but they were for students who did a credit recovery class during spring break. What the controversy was that Mr. Ochoa accidently used the wrong document for the grade change which caused the old grades not to appear on the new transcript instead of both the new and old grades.
The following summer the media once again attacked Mr. Ochoa with the accusations that he took money from the school. It seemed Mr. Ochoa pulled out funds from certain clubs and sports to pay off money for schooled owed. The thing I believe that hurt Mr. Ochoa the most was he was a formal football player at CPHS and a great amount of the money taken was spent on football and cheerleading. Those weren’t the only things he spent the money on though, Mr. Ochoa paid off Advanced Placement test for students who could not afford to pay them.
In the beginning of my junior year things just got worst after a few football players started “horse playing” a little too rough. It seemed that after their football practice a few players got a little too excited and hazed their fellow teammate with a pencil. If it wasn’t enough our new principle Virginia Sandoval-Johnson made things worse by leaving a voicemail to the student’s houses of CPHS. The voicemail enraged parents because the voicemail sugarcoated the incident and mislead wrong info to parents. Both the hazing incident and the voicemail were recorded in the media.
One month later the media came back this time with a surprise. It seemed CPHS’ Ms. Garcia was arrested for having meth. After being released on bail Ms. Garcia continued teaching without anyone knowing. One the police called to inform CPHS’ administration they had now idea and put Ms. Garcia on leave without pay. It seemed the media was so into looking to attack CPHS It seemed the media new off the news before most teachers.
So far CPHS has had a bad year in publicity but what the media has failed to inform the public is that CPHS is at its top in academics. This is what concerns me as the media blabber on the negatives of CPHS they fail to notice the positives. I’m hoping that these stories don’t affect any students life when applying for something whether its college or for a job
18. If you could choose two things to change about our high school campus, what would they be and why?

Castle Park High School has become my home, my friends at CPHS have become my family and nothing could change that. Though it may not be perfect CPHS is the best because I believe it is. Two things I would change about CPHS would be a change in student activities and our school scheduler. These two changes will help students and our campus to increase physically and spiritually.
Increasing student activity in school would not only help the school by increasing the size of clubs and sports but help students by keeping them out of the streets and focused on school. My mother came to CPHS is in 1981- 1985 and she has mentioned to me how much the school has changed. She has told me things like how back then the school was known for its spirit and to be a part of that spirit was looked up to. Today I feel as if school spirit is almost frowned upon, people think there to cool for spirit. When I look in my mom’s yearbook the letterette team could spell Castle Park and have extra shields with emblems on them; today we can barely spell CPHS. I run cross country at my school and every now in then my teammates and I are discredited and insulted just because we train a lot. I believe if students had a taste of what their missing out in they would participate even more. This past cross country season one of are runners was constantly being berated about going to practice by his brother (who also was a CPHS cross country runner but graduated). After about two weeks cross country grew on him he soon become our 2nd top runner and missed going to state by 7 seconds! At the end of the season he even told our coach he was glad he joined cross country. If he was never pushed he would had never joined and encountered the great experience. This is why every student should be driven to participate in at least one activity.
Changing the schools schedule would affect the districts schedule but this mean the new schedule would help every school. Everyday students come exhausted from school then have to face the next day all over again. It is not easy to learn a whole subject then go to an entirely different class and learn an entirely different subject multiple times a day. A way to fix this is to limit a day of school to only two classes a day in a five hour school day (kids would be released early but then as mentioned in the paragraph above would have to participate in an afterschool activity).  That way multiple teachers don’t throw subjects at students one by one by one. Students could learn better in each subject since they won’t be tired. HW can be organized in small amounts everyday so they student can constantly do the work instead of doing it all in one day and forget of the subject till the end of the semester. The only negative part of this schedule is our summer break will be affected dramatically. This can be a benefit for some students because they won’t forget the past years subjects and have to review them in the beginning of the new semester

Though not everyone may agree with my ideas i believe this could help students actually learn their subjects and help them secede in life. Driving students to join extracurricular activities at school and changing the school scheduler may seem unusual they could help and who knows they might even change the future of learning

19. Should school attendance be mandatory? In your answer, be sure to explore what the function of education is, and what our nation would look like if the masses were less educated.

I wish school wasn't mandatory and for that reason school must be mandatory. If school wasn't mandatory most kids wouldn't go. If kids don’t have to go to school our society would drastically change. Children wouldn’t care about attending school, children would have to start working at young ages and eventually become stuck in their standard of living. Soon laws would adjust and our society will become imbalanced
About every child loathes school in the US once in their lives. Having to attend school every day can sometimes become a drag. This is why if school wasn’t mandatory most kids wouldn’t attend. Especially if kids aren’t supported or encouraged by their parents most kids would skip school or not even enroll. With nothing to do kids would be running around in the streets causing trouble.
If parents didn’t care about their child’s education the parents would most likely have their child find a job to support the family. Let’s look back into history in the 19th century when child labor was accepted. Parents who could not support themselves often had to turn to sending their children into sweatshops to earn small wages. History would once again repeat itself, not only would children not want to attend but they would soon be forced to work to survive.
After several generations passed those left without education the same people would be stuck in the same poverty. Parents would be unable to send their children to get an education because the parents’ wages are to low (because the parents didn’t get an education) and must send their children into work.
With the change of society there would be a change in laws. Corporations would once again dominate the country (if they don’t already). Tyrants would corrupt "the system" to help their business and keep themselves in power, influencing laws to change for their own selfish purposes.
Without education many people would choose to enlist in the military. Our militia would grow so massive it could become a problem not only for other countries but for us. With tensions rising with other countries are country wouldn’t be afraid to start another war.
Our country could literally fall apart but there is a possibility good things could happen. The lost in education would definitely lessen the competition. More percentage of educated people would be admitted making it easier for those who are educated to go to college. The only problem is only the rich would be educated and go to college while the poor work hard just to survive.

As you can see education is important, without it our country would fall apart. This is why we need to make school attendance mandatory. If not everything our ancestors have worked for everything they sacrifice would be for nothing.

20. If you had the ability to talk to one species of animal, which animal would you choose to communicate with? Why?

If I had the ability to talk to one species of animals I would definitely choose man's best friend, the dog. Imagine always having a friend to talk to, a friend so loyal they would never leave your side. Sadly in today’s times it can be difficult to find such a friend. Yet with a dog to talk to I could talk to him about anything anytime and anywhere. My dog and I could teach each other new things we could not have known alone
Having a dog to talk to talk to would be the best. I would never have to worry about him judging me or leaving my side. My dog would always be able to cheer me up not only through his kisses on my cheek but with his words. I could just imagine my dog running around screaming out everything.
My dog could teach me things humans could never understand without the help of dogs. For example how (and what) they see, how do they view life, why they like to chase squirrels, etc. Not only could my dog teach me but I could teach him. We could amaze the world with his amazing tricks. I could teach my dog how to write, how to solve math problems (simple and complex) to baffle scientists. My dog could complete small favors for me such as getting my TV/Xbox remotes, my mail, and concealed drinks such as coke.
With the proper training my dog would become the most renowned dog in the world. I would post videos of my dog performing his tricks on my blogs not only to get out to the public his amazingness but to gain some money.
These are the reasons I would choose a dog before any other species to talk to. Every moment my dog and I spend together would be special because we would share a bond no one else in the world could have.

Check out how awesome dogs are(;
